After attempting to make a proper football game, I accidentally made this.

I mean, I suppose it's Almost Football - Ha ha, that's the title of the game, get it?

In this game, a terrible physics engine, awful graphics, no animations and the worst sound design since Journey to the Centre of the Earth DS aren't bugs, they're features! ...Ok, maybe it's possible that I'm just a bad programmer.

Features:

  • Single-player match against the computer
  • Two-player local competitive multiplayer, crammed on to one keyboard
  • Up to 20 self-recorded snippets of commentary, run through a high pass filter to sound edgier
  • A whopping 4 different playable characters, all of whom behave in exactly the same way
  • Sound effects incongruous with the style of the game, because Bfxr.net is nice
  • Art that is totally just me redrawing over the same template of a person
  • The menu at least almost works
  • No options because options are for suckers
  • Limited, simplistic gameplay

Coming Soon:

  • Character selection, featuring more than two different players
  • Different game modes
  • Proper resolution options

Almost Football is currently in an early pre-release version, Version 0.2.0. It will still be receiving updates, although these must be downloaded manually from this page. Almost Football was developed using the LÖVE framework for Lua.
